Tom lost his wallet

by admin on Jul.20, 2009, under Uncategorized

Man what a bummer I lost my wallet at Sky Harbor or it was taken but most likely I lost it. I went back today to talk to the airport security to see if they had found it or someone turned it in. Wow what a fiasco! Don’t ever lose your personal possessions at the airport security really is of no assistance other than making you walk from one kiosk to another. Really the only thing that I am bummed about losing is the dozen or so temporary tattoo’s I got for friends and family at Hell’s Kitchen. While you wait for your grub they have a big fire bucket that you can sort through literally hundreds of stick on tattoos. If anyone finds my wallet I would be glad to give a small reward for it as long as the tattoos are still in it.

Return from Dragon Door

by admin on Jul.19, 2009, under Uncategorized

We had a safe flight back and HB and I were beat. Today we are starting the digitizing of  the 9S course and the Dragon Door event. Between the 2 video shoots we have over 140 tapes to ingest. In the edit bay here at the studio we have to MC3.5 machines which makes the video workflow pretty smooth. You can be capturing on one and editing on the other all day long. It also makes it nice since we use After Effects for our tilting as renders can and do take a while. I said we would have pics but we don’t just some video of us working. Unfortunately I forgot my camera so I didn’t grab any stills. One thing to note that if you are ever in the twin cities looking to eat there is a restaurant  called hells kitchen that has some really interesting ambiance as well as dishes.  Thanks Kathy and Eric for turning me and HB on to that. Cheers Tom

Leaving for Minneapolis

by admin on Jul.15, 2009, under Uncategorized

Tomorrow we leave for the twin cities and are looking forward to a break from the AZ sun. The shoot if for Z-Health and it is a Dragon Door event called the “The Essentials Of Elite Performance”. It is quick overview of the other courses that Z-Health has to offer. We again are shooting on Sony PD-170 cameras for the same reason we used them on the 9S courses. Lecture then run and gun for the drills. We will be posting some pics when we get back. Tom

9S capture

by admin on Jul.13, 2009, under Uncategorized

Well after 5 days of shooting for ZHealth with have 80 tapes to capture. What a course that was too. Z-Health really nails it on the head!

We are going to be cutting this on AVID Media Composer 3.5. We just made the switch from AVID Express Pro to MC3.5 this last month. I have to say that the feel of the software is much better and so is the machines responsiveness. We also just upgraded our screens to 26″ lcd’s. So for the next few days we will be seeing what we got, what footage we are going to keep and what gets canned. Cutting is going to begin later this month and will write about how that goes.

Starting the ZHealth 9S

by admin on Jul.06, 2009, under Uncategorized

Well the next few days will be jammed packed with elite athletes and Dr. Cobb from Z-Health Performance Solutions being video taped by the TallCat crew. July 8th through the 12th we will be on location in Chandler shooting on Sony PD-170’s. We choose the PD-170 for its versatility and good low light performance. We are going at this knowing that 60% of the time will be lecture which is easy for just about any camera to do but, in a flash the group can get up and start doing some of the drills taught by Dr. Cobb. At that point it is run and gun time and that is where the PD-170 shines. You can be on a tripod and snap it off switch to auto and you are off. Without the heavier weight of a shoulder mounted camera you can really get down low with this thing if you have to.

One of the nice things about shooting the Z-Health 9S course is that you get to hear all of the great information that Dr. Cobb has collected over the course of years of study that he has been involved in. It is really interesting stuff. It ranges in topic from Nero Plasticity to developing rapport with clientèle.   Really a pleasure to work with this company. Tom
